Despite receiving a red card for a wild challenge on Getafe defender Juan Iglesias last month, a successful appeal ensure he was in the side that beat Real Madrid on Saturday night.

His haul of three goals has already equalle his tally for United last season with his only contribution for United this term coming from the penalty spot in the 7-0 win over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

With United desperate to raise funds to improve Ruben Amorim’s squad this summer, Antony is among those the club with push to sell at the end of the season.

While there is no option or obligation to buy in the loan deal that took Antony to Seville, CEO Ramon Aarcon has reveale the player is keen to spend next season with the club.

‘Antony was surprise by the facilities we gave him to settle in the city as soon as he arrive,’ Alarcon told El Pelotazo.

‘The player is very happy and the other day he told me that he wante to stay another year.’

Amorim, who hande Antony just two starts before sending him out on loan, suggeste the winger’s lack of ‘physicality’ was a prime reason behind his decision.

‘Antony is so much better now in Spain,’ Amorim said. ‘It’s [because of] a lot of factors but I guarantee you it’s physicality.’

His agent however has hit back at those claims, insisting the new United manager did not give his client the chance to prove his worth.

‘We respect the opinion of coach Ruben Amorim, but we completely disagree with his analysis,’ Antony’s agent Junior Pedroso told Marca.

‘To attribute Antony’s lack of success at Manchester United solely to the question of physicality is a very superficial argument and does not reflect reality.

‘The truth is that Antony has not had enough prominence or the confidence necessary to play his best football.

‘Of the 15 games in which Amorim managed Manchester United, he only use Antony in nine, with a total of 252 minutes playe.

‘This represents only 18.6% of the total possible minutes (1,350 minutes).

‘How can you judge an athlete without a minimum sequence to prove his worth?’
